Inspired Youth are set to launch a powerful photography and film project to show the human side of people experiencing homelessness. “We’re Human Too” is funded by a small grant from the Joseph Rowntree Foundation York Committee and will be delivered by Inspired Youth in partnership with York Arc Light homeless charity and Scott Akoz Photography.
The project will focus on presenting the humans behind the stigma and stereotypes associated with homelessness.
‘We’re Human Too” will form a City-wide awareness raising campaign which aims to explore and understand homelessness through the voices of experience. The project aspires to challenge modern images of homelessness we are shown in the media by creating powerful portraits which value each person as an individual with a story rather than a stereotype or an idea.
Over the coming weeks Inspired Youth will be shooting portraits with Scott Akoz Photography, and filming short interviews to explore the humans behind the stereotypes and stigma of homelessness. Follow the blog for updates.
