My name is Dave, I’m 32 years old and I was born in Luton.
Education & learning
I did ok with my education. I did well in technology and went on to achieve a level 2 NVQ in plumbing.
Something you are passionate about
I have 7 years experience in plumbing, I’m really passionate about it.
My childhood was good up until I was aged 14-16. My parents got divorced and I stayed with my Dad. He got cancer to the bottom of his spine and passed away. After I lost my Dad, the house was sold and I ended up homeless. I’ve struggled ever since.
My biggest achievement is getting my plumbing qualification.
When i was younger, going to America with my parents.
The hardest part about being homeless
The hardest thing about being homeless is feeling like you are on your own. It can sometimes feel like nobody is there for you.
What have you learned from your experience of homelessness?
I have learned to keep myself to myself and not to trust anyone.
One message about homelessness
Just make sure you look after yourself and try your hardest to do everything you can to get into a better situation.
What are your aspirations for the future?
I want to get back into plumbing and start earning my own money.
